Summer Wraps Up at Shady Hill Day Camp

The 2013 Shady Hill Day Camp comes to a close on Friday, August 9.
Shady Hill Day Camp welcomed over 300 campers to Shady Hill this summer for four amazing two-week sessions.

Over the past eight weeks, campers enjoyed a tremendous variety of activities. They built boats and cars in Woodshop and LEGO Robotics. Campers practiced skits and songs in Music and Theater, and created costumes, and performed for their families and friends at Closing Assemblies. They learned karate, played soccer, and went swimming every day (except for the rainy days). Special events included a Carnival Day complete with games and obstacle courses, a Pirate Day highlighted by scavenger hunts, and even a Kite Flying day. But most important of all, campers made new friends, learned a lot, and had fun.

The Leadership-In-Training and Counselor-In-Training programs taught middle school students how to be responsible role models as they helped guide younger campers through their daily activities. Both groups had the pleasure of speaking with some amazing leaders from both inside and outside of the SHS community. Each leader shared stories and lessons from their respective fields of education, business, medicine, professional soccer, and professional basketball.

Thanks to all of the counselors, staff, campers, and parents for making this summer such a success. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
