Summer Programs

Summer at Shady Hill School offers a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children aged four to fourteen to play, learn, and grow. We balance individual voice and choice with the importance of coming together as a community. We focus on developing essential social emotional skills and self-confidence, while offering a broad range of activities to explore. And we have a lot of fun!

2025 Programming will run from Monday, June 23 to Friday, August 1, on weekdays (with the exception of Friday, July 4), from 8:15 AM–3:15 PM. Aftercare will be available from 3:30–6:00 PM (with the exception of Friday, August 1).

Every session has a theme with developmentally-appropriate Arts, STEM and PE activities designed by experienced Shady Hill teachers. We find that having our own SHS teachers embedded in the program makes a tremendous difference in aligning with the school’s mission of “joyful active learning!”

Every grade-level-based cohort has a homebase in our air-conditioned Hub, run by our enthusiastic Group Leaders. This camp-counselor-type role focuses on every child being seen, known and celebrated. Our youngest students also benefit from added attention and support from our Leaders-in-Training, students in Rising Grades VI-IX who are eager to give back to the SHS Summer community. 

Every day children have multiple recess times to play on our beautiful 11-acre campus. In the summer we add to the fun with bounce-house and water slide inflatables! Included in tuition is also a summer t-shirt, daily school-provided snack and optional field trips. Every session we also invite families to campus for one special assembly-share event, to see the summer magic in action!
